    To make the compensation of the vacancy in the major setting and subject research of early childhood education, and to meet the huge social demand for professional staff of early childhood education, Suzhou Liang’s Education Management Co. Ltd. and Silicon Lake College of Vocational Technology worked together and set up Children's Development Research Center in 2012.

     

    1. The Advantage of the Discipline

    Early childhood education is the major trend of pre-school education in the 21st century. In accordance with the China Population Statistics Yearbook of 2005, the total number of infants aged between 0 to 3 years is 90,000,000. The pre-school education has broad marketing space and developing prospect and the demand for pre-school teachers and administrators surges sharply, however, the graduates of infant normal colleges are in short supply. Even though some colleges and universities have newly established pre-school education discipline, yet the social demand can not be met. For instance, in Guizhou Province, more than ten thousand nursery teachers are still needed; in Jiangsu Province, the shortage of teachers is a serious issue too, especially the nursery teachers. Therefore, the current situation has provided a huge employment market, and the graduates of infant normal colleges can enjoy better pay and benefits.

     

    We provide advanced courses by combining the advanced educational theory of pre-school education with the social reality in China. We offer the basic and skilled courses of childhood education and psychology. We also introduce and develop the following advanced courses:  children welfare, nutrition, prenatal education, safety, health and creative art, etc. And we develop teaching materials for these courses, in order to provide the theoretical support for the cultivation of high-level professional and technical talents who are urgent needed by the development of Chinese children.

    In teaching, we emphasize the practical training adhering to the combination of production, study and research. We have set up the research center of children development, creative experience hall for children, Liang’s paper-making experience hall, Liang’s clay modeling experience hall, and service agencies for early childhood education. During the school years, students are expected to learn the theoretical knowledge of pre-school education, and also spend half of the time in the practical training and teaching. We pay much more attention to cultivating students’ practical abilities and skills, which could make them apply the theoretical knowledge in the teaching positions.

     

    2. Major settings

    We have set up two majors: Nutrition and Food Hygiene (Direction of Early Health), Application of Art and Design (Direction of Creative Art for Kids)

       

    3. Teaching staff

    We have formed the specialty committee by inviting early childhood education specialists from France and Korea, professors of early childhood education from East China Normal University, Beijing Normal University and Northeast Normal University, and pedologists from Affiliated Hospital of Fudan University and Shanghai Jiaotong University. These experts provide the professional advice for the major setting and teaching. We have a professional high-skilled team of teachers, among them 80% are with the professional title of Vice-professor or higher and the master degree or higher. Our aim is to cultivate the high-level applied technical talents with systematic knowledge and practical teaching skills of pre-school education that can meet the needs of social development and the work serving for children development.

    We have the research center of children development, creative experience hall for children, Liang’s paper-making experience hall, Liang’s clay modeling experience hall, and service agencies for early childhood education, and we have established sound cooperative relationships with many famous pre-school groups, institutions for early childhood education and kindergarten, Such as Shanghai Shuangmei Education Group, Shanghai Step-by-step Education, Thumb Education Group, Yingzhibeijia Early Childhood Education Group, Shanghai Yangpu Qibu Scientific Parenting Guidance Center, New Oriental Pre-school Education Group, Day-day-up Early Childhood Education and Training Centre, Starry Sky Creative Art, etc..      Major profile

    1) Nutrition and Food Hygiene (Direction of Early Health)

    Training Goal: To cultivate the applied professional talents with sound basic knowledge and practical skills of early childhood health and nutrition & food hygiene, and to cultivate students’ to form the positive outlook of values and social responsibility and the love for the career of pre-school education.

     

    Field of Employment: Graduates can mainly engaged in the families, communities and pre-school education institutions in the Yangtze River Delta Area by doing the jobs of infants’ health and wellness, and the relevant jobs in maternity-child health centre, pediatrics nursing and caring in the hospital, health management corporation and nutritional diet company.

     

    Core Courses: Brief Introduction to Health Management, Child Nutrition, Children’s Nutrition and Health, Infant Athletic Ability Training, Community Health Management, Infant Health in the West and China, Modern Maternity-child Health, Children Health Science, Children Psychology, Nursery Care of 0-3 year-old infants , Children Guidance Language Arts, Early Childhood Family Nutrition Guidance, Children Mental Health Education and Lifestyle, Children Safety Education.

    2) Application of Art and Design (Direction of Creative Art for Kids)

    Training Goal: To cultivate the applied design talents with a certain basic knowledge and practical skills of childhood creative art and strong market and creative sense, and to cultivate students’ to form the ability of aesthetics and entrepreneurial competence.

    Field of Employment: Graduates can mainly engaged in the communities, children's entertainment parks and maternity-child health centre in the Yangtze River Delta Area by doing the jobs of children’s arts guidance and construction of children’s creative environment.

     

    Core Courses: Children Development Psychology, Children’s Art Materials and Methods, Cultivation of Children's Art Sensibility, Cultivation of Children’s Perception for Environmental Color, Curriculum and Teaching of Children’s Art, Children’s Art, Color and Art Foundation, Training Aids and Toys Making.
