Department of Civil Engineering
The department of Construction Engineering is set up to meet China's rapid economic development and the urgent need of the applied civil engineering talents. We focus on cultivating the compound construction talents that have professional skills in construction engineering, and are able to adapt to the national economic development.

According to the characteristics of the construction engineering industry, we open up the following majors: Road and Bridge Engineering, Construction Technology, Construction Management, Project Cost etc.
We adopt the cultivating pattern of combining learning with working. While learning specialized theoretical knowledge, students are arranged to participate in the process of building to obtain the practical skills of construction management, budget and practical operation skills, which helps to build a solid background for the long-term development and future employment.
Faculty and Teaching Resources
It has an excellent teaching team consisted of professor-level senior engineers; national registration specialists, professional PhD, engineers and lecturers. With specialized theoretical knowledge and rich practical experience, they have cultivated satisfying applied talents for our economy.
It has built a well-functioned construction material lab which is in accordance with national technical standard of architectural engineering material. The lab can conduct a comprehensive performance and quality inspection for cement, concrete, steel, mortar, brick and other building materials.
In the current period of rapid economic growth in China, and the foreseeable future, the construction industry is the pillar industry of the development of national economy, so the demand for the architectural talent is huge. The professional construction personnel with higher education have always been in a state of short supply.
1. Road and Bridge Engineering Technology
Training Objectives: Students should understand the basic theory and be able to engage in the construction and management of roads and bridges.
Employment Areas: to do the construction engineering work, such as construction, management, supervision, budget, municipal engineering, maintenance, testing and consulting services in urban construction sectors, companies involved in the construction of roads, bridges, and civil engineering.

2 Construction Engineering Technology
Training Objectives: Students should obtain the basic theory and skills related to housing construction, urban construction and municipal engineering, and geotechnical and foundation project, and be able to engage in the design, construction, investment, management, and development of construction engineering project.
Employment Areas: to do the architectural design and construction management in urban construction sectors, inspection departments of urban construction engineering quality, institutes of architectural design, survey departments, construction enterprises, real estate agencies, etc.

3. Construction Project Management
Training Goal: It has three sub-directions: project management, project supervision, and service outsourcing. Students should understand the basic theory in construction project management and architectural construction, and be able to engage in construction and management of civil engineering, construction project supervision, budget and final accounts of construction project (cost).
Employment Areas: To do construction and management of construction project and construction project supervision in urban construction sectors, construction enterprises, construction project supervision companies, construction project management consulting companies, etc.

4. Construction Cost
Training Objectives: Students should understand the basic theory in determining and controlling of construction project cost, analyzing and solving construction project cost, and are able to do the work involved in the project bidding and contract management, construction technology and construction management, project construction supervision, and construction project management.
Employment Areas: To do the job of budget and cost of construction project, bidding and contract management in urban construction sectors, construction enterprises, construction project supervision companies, construction project management consulting companies, the real estate development companies, etc.
Core Courses: Construction Drawings, Construction Mechanics and Structure, Construction Surveying, Building Materials, Architectural CAD, Building Architecture, Construction, Project Management, Construction Project Budget, Installation Project Budget, Bidding and Contract Management, the Case Analysis of Engineering Cost, Construction Organization Design and Management, etc.
Students can attend the specialized subject undergraduate entrance exam. Theses passing the exam can be transferred to China’s University of Mining & Technology, Nanjing College of Civil Engineering and Yangzhou University for bachelor degree.
Professional Qualification Certificates:
Students can attend the exams for certificates of architectural engineering construction, construction roll inspection, construction safety, construction materials, and construction engineering cost, which are held by Jiangsu Province, and obtain corresponding qualification certificates. The percentage of students who obtained these certificates is above 95% in the past years.
